The new movement for another world, inspired by the Zapatistas and their struggle for autonomy, goes beyond demanding civil rights from the government. Rather, we can exercise our right to determine our own lives through autonomy. Ramona, a Zapatista comandante, eloquently expressed the true meaning of Rosa Parks' idea of civil rights and equality when she said, "We don't have to ask permision to be free."
