I support the right of the Troops Out Now Coalition and all of the other anti-war and social justice groups to carry out anti-war ‘tent cities’ at the Westwood Federal Building as well as the Downtown Federal Building as scheduled.

The continued illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are being conducted against the will of a majority of people in the United States and the rest of the world. The policies of the Bush administration defy international law.

The right to carry out creative protest and to gather at a place that is symbolically important cannot be discarded as so many of our civil liberties have been. No regulations can supersede the right of people to express their indignation and anger over these illegal, immoral policies.

The General Services Administration must not aid the administration in its conduct of a criminal war. I insist that the GSA issue the proper permits for the two ‘tent cities’ at the Federal Buildings in Los Angeles and not hinder these important protests.
